Sydney-Hobart Scatterometer Wind Data

UTC = GMT =     ASCAT A DESCENDING As the satellite moves down the earth, the earth rotates to the right, so the data path tilts to the left.


UTC = GMT =     ASCAT B DESCENDING below it is just 50m later, so these tracks at essentially the same time combine to make a wider swath of data. Differences seen in overlap regions reflect squalls or frontal activity.


UTC = GMT =     ASCAT A ASCENDING. As the satellite moves up the earth, the earth rotates to the right, so the data path tilts to the left.


UTC = GMT =     ASCAT B ASCENDING, 50 minutes after ASCA, shifted slightly to the west..
