Instead of using Pub. 249, I'm trying to get the
Azimuth angle through spherical trig. But whenever I calculate I don't get the right results, can you see if I got the equation right.

cos Z = cos(90-dec)-(cos(90-Ho)x cos(90-lat))/
(sin(90-Ho)x sin(90-lat)).

We have the formulas in the glossary under navigation triangle

http://www.starpath.com/cgi-bin/web_card/courses/glossary.pl?show_def=105&ca t=Celestial_Navigation

There are several formulas that will get to the right result with special exceptions applied, but the ones we list are the best to use and should always work.
