In this problem it appears that the Polaris sight was advanced from 0545 to 0605. Was the 0545 latitude line simply advanced along the course line in an amount equal to the distance traveled? I think this is the case but I'm not sure.

Can you clarify this for me?

This is part of Problem 9 and yes the Polaris sight was advanced along the course as described.
