If the TI-89 seems to be locked up and no keys cause any action, try removing one battery for 5 minutes and then putting it back in. It is important to wait for the full 5 minutes or more.
If that gets the keys going, then follow "ROM to RAM" note here in tech support for the rest of the reload.
