When you replace the screws that hold the plastic mounting bracket to the top, be sure to not over tighten them as this can split the channel that holds the bracket.

ON THE OTHER HAND... the best way to mount the device is likely to just use two pieces of self-adhesive Velcro. We have mounted barometers in boats this way many times, and even heavier units, and sailed across the ocean in small boats. It works just fine and is simple.
