In article 12.2 in the bottom left paragraph of page 12-22 we give a method for estimating the time it takes to tack a route from A to B, but there is a phrase that was dropped from the end so it does not make sense.

It should say, to estimate how long it will take to tack a given route, figure the time it would take you to sail the rhumbline route directly there without tacking, and then multiply that time by 1.5. The approximations leading to this are discussed in the article. [Note that this rule would not work for an America's Cup yacht since they sail so much closer to the wind than a normal sailboat does.]

[note that any page reference using chapters such as 12-22, means it is an old error which has been fixed... we keep them here for anyone who might have an old book.]
