About the Online Library

The Online Library is a repository for resources that supplement your online study. These are generally designed to be downloaded and used offline. They include Articles on special topics, Freeware and Shareware software that is useful for navigation or for general Internet of computer usage, plus convenient Forms and Plotting Sheets used in various aspects of navigation.

The articles are presented in various formats (web pages, text documents, graphics, pdf files, and so on), and some are in the new Starpath Elibra ebook format. These will require downloading the free Starpath Elibra Reader.

There is also a section on Practice Problems in several areas, which we update on a regular basis. Most of these provide the answers immediately upon submission, others are submitted to be graded by an instructor at Starpath. Questions and discussion of these practice problems take place in the General Discussion forums in the online classroom.

The section called Study Guides proposes several ways that readers can practice specific topics in marine navigation, weather, and communications when the corresponding online courses are not in session. The Study Guides will often rely on links in the Internet Connections section and on the Practice Problems.

Generalized descriptions of sample Library components appear on our Preview pages (dark blue backgrounds); specific descriptions, instructions, and actual links appear on the Active pages (dark green backgrounds) once you login with your WebCard.
