Hello all,

i am back from the pacific cup race. all went well, except for the gooseneck breaking off completely, which required a rather elaborate jury rig. when i get a chance i will post a couple of pics... and the loss of two spinnakers, which is sadly enough not entirely uncommon in such a race.

Did not do any cel nav underway except to check the steering compass, which differed from the fluxgate by 4°. turns out the main steering compass was the correct one. If you have not reviewed the section of the course on compass checks using the sun, may i recommend it. It is one of the more powerful reasons for knowing cel nav in the age of GPS.

Looking forward to more questions and quizzes to grade,
