Using our StarPilot program, a running fix while on the same course and speed is done all automatically with nothing at all special to do. All sights are running fixes in StarPilot.

It does, however, take an extra step if there are one or more course changes between the sights. In that case we first compute the course and speed made good between the two sight sessions and use that for the advancement.

To illustrate that we work a sun-moon rfix with one course change between sights from our book Hawaii by Sextant.

Here is the solution to Problem 15 from HBS.
