FYI - On the page at https://www.starpath.com/navbook the link to the navigation rules ( https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/pdf/navrules/navrules.pdf ) returns a "Page not found" for me.

There's an online version at https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/navigation-rules-amalgamated however, the link to download it (under the picture of the cover) is not actually a link.

I found a copy at https://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/publications/coast-pilot/docs/NavigationRulesStandardSize.pdf and based on the amendments listed, it appears to be the same version as the online version displayed on the USCG site.

Thanks very much for your note. We will look into that broken link. The uscg has not offered a pdf version for many years now, so i am not sure how that got reverted to them. We had our own copy we were offering.

I will find a new copy of the book pdf and put it back here.

Our main link for rules is our Pocket Nav Rules at

https://www.starpath.com/navrules/NavigationRulesHandbook.html

the links you have are useful, but they are not the copy of the handbook, so i will look for that.

thanks again.

Here is a link to the last PDF USCG made (2014 updated to 2020) and it might be updated with crucial info.

But this should be checked with the last official update the USCG made to this product.

Check out the sunsetting notice at this link:

https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/nav-rules-handbook

Also, again, our main reference to the Rules is out Pocket Rules Handbook, linked above.

We fixed the broken link you found. Thanks again. The fact is that book is still sold by third party sellers but it is no longer an official publication, and indeed any of the copies you found can be used to meet carriage requirements.

With that said, the printed copy (print of that PDF) is still the best thing to have in hand when learning the Rules, which is why we still sell them and encourage its use. We include a print copy with our online Nav Rules Course.
