Author Topic: How to find GHA Aries
vjwilliams posted November 29, 2002 02:10 PM                   There is no direct menu item for GHA Aries, but we can find it indirectly.GHA * = GHA Aries + SHA *, so GHA Aries = GHA * - SHA *.Precompute ( [2] [4] [2] ) any star to get GHA Star and SHA Star, then subtract them to get SHA. If negative, add 360º.Lat and Lon does not matter. Use Markab (#57) with lowest SHA to minimize need for the extra correction. Example: Nov 9, 2002 find GHA Aries at 12h 12m 12s UTC.WT? 12.1212Day?9Month?11Year?2002Star,0=List?57Lat? 00 (Can leave whatever shows up here)Lon?00 (Can leave whatever shows up here)57:MARKAB 2.6Hc/Zn/GHA/DEC/SHA-13º30.8' (This star was below the horizon)302.0º245º 19.5'015º 13.3'013º 46.6'Then figure GHA Aries = 245º 19.5' - 013º 46.6' = 231º 32.9'
