If there is a chance that you will need to reinstall the program, then step 1 is to check that you have the KEY for your calculator. We usually write this on a sticker and paste into the back cover.

If it is not there and the device is still running then you can find it from page Setting 4, Support Info.

Failing that, we can sometimes find it from registration records, but that can depend on the sales history of the device.

For the PC version, note that a new OS (ie Win 7 to Win 10) could call for a new registration. To account for this, the license reads single user, single computer with two back ups. Otherwise, installing new StarPilot versions is not an issue as the KEY is stored in the Registry.
