Some versions of the VNS program have a sometimes troublesome behavior that we can work around, once we know it. Some versions will lose track, mark, and route data if the PC locks up for any reason that prevents VNS from closing in a normal manner.

With this in mind, the "belt and suspenders" approach would be to periodically close the progam and then reopen it. All data are nicely stored when the program closes in a natural manner.

A good time to do this would be just after entering a long complex route.... ie don't just enter the route and take off, but enter it, close the program and then start again. Likewise after a day's run, many of us just leave the computer on over night. This runs the risk of losing the day's track data, so it is best to shut off to archive the data.

There may be a way to SAVE data without shutting down, and if we learn this we will post it.
