Does anyone have any experience with the Garmin 86sci handheld plot charter. I like to rent bareboats and will carry such a device with me as a backup plotter. You just never know when you'd also want emergency comms from a liferaft! It has a 3-inch color screen, the InReach feature (limited texting via satellite), a SOS button (presumably GPIRB), the ability to Wifi or Bluetooth the screen images to a larger display on a phone or tablet. To get all fancy, if your boat has Garmin systems, the 86sci can be used as a remote control device. Sells full retail price at $650. Any thoughts on reliability or experiences of your own?
