Tonight I went out and was pleased to be able to identify:
Polaris
Pointers to Polaris Cassiopeia Pegasus (the Great Square led by the Triangle) Auriga
Other star groups Orion Taurus Pleides Sirius Procyon Gemini The Gemini-Procyon line
Steering by the Stars: What a great chapter. Thanks to EN and an hour or two of star gazing, I now have a good feel for the winter night sky here at 30N latitude. On a clear night, even a partly cloudy night, I'd not have a bit of trouble finding my way.
You do an outstanding job at showing a practical application (navigation) for the awesome celestial show overhead.

thank you.
One way that will help remember stars, though it sounds a bit hokey, is to simply say their name outlout as you point to them, ideally showing someone else. "Hello there, Zuben el genubi, nice to see you tonight."
If anyone else is reading our Emergency Navigation book (EN) as an ebook (the only available source for now), then you might not mind another ebook of Star Names, their Lore and Meaning, which has a very valuale feature in this complex book of being fully searchable.
