Notes on Student Certification
ASA Students
Students who have signed up for one of our courses through the ASA directly, or from an ASA affiliated school other than Starpath, have the option to take the ASA student certification test after you have completed all the quizzes including the quiz marked "last quiz of the course."
The only requirement is to have an average quiz score greater than 70% over all quizzes in the course. Generally the instructor will alert anyone who might not be meeting this basic standard.
There is no additional charge for this procedure. The ASA certification fee was included in the course fee you paid to the ASA. You do not need to make any certification purchase at Starpath.
Here is the procedure
(1) After completing the last quiz with an average of all being > 70%, the Starpath office will be notified by the instructor of this accomplishment, and the Certification Folder will be unlocked for you.
If this occurs during business hours, this usually happens fairly quickly, but if toward the end of the day, or on a weekend, or on a holiday, please note this will not occur until the next business day. You will get an email at the time it is done, which will include these instructions.
(2) The Certification Folder includes the certification test. The Certification Folder is located in the Online Classroom, at the bottom of the same page where you link to the assignments or link to the student discussion forum.
(3) This test is worked in the same manner as the practice quizzes. You are welcome to ask questions about the questions, and we will direct you to the materials that cover the topic. Specific answers as we often provide on the quizzes are typically not given for this test. The questions will be similar if not identical to ones you have taken in the quizzes, which are the best way to review for this.
(4) A passing grade is 75% or higher. Once this is scored, you will be informed by email in the same manner as done in the quizzes, and the office will simultaneously be alerted of this success, and then your credentials will be passed on to the ASA.
You can be confident that we send this to the ASA within the first business day after your test 99 has been scored, but it will take them a while to post your certificate and send the associated stickers for your logbook. As of July 25, 2021 the time delay is about 1 month from when you finished the test to get your stickers, but your certification is often posted online at the ASA site much earlier. The ASA is still working under COVID restrictions, which slows things down.
When you get the sticker, there will be a place to fill in the date (of your test), the ASA instructor name and number (David Burch 830219), and the facility (Starpath).
Starpath Students
Students who have signed up for their course directly from Starpath have the option to add on to this the Starpath Certification, or you can also use the course to achieve the ASA Certification, but these are add on options not included with your original course fee.
