In looking at my horizon mirror, I see that there's about a 1 mm rough textured strip between the clear glass and the mirror. What's the story on that?

It's an Astra IIIB with the traditional mirror.

We are still looking into this. I recall the issue from sometime in the past but need to rekindle that information. I vaguely recall that some folks have an actual optical argument for it, but it is certainly not shared by all manufacturers. Could also be an argument for protection of the edge, but this too is not universally shared. More soon...
