Topic: Hawaii by Sextant Problem 8

Has anybody worked problem 8 in Hawaii by Sextant and worked out how the course 263°T and speed 4.5kt were chosen? (See page 29, bottom right column.) I expected to use 276°T and 5.7kt in the LOP advancement, as per the 0500 logbook entry. I have Celestial Navigation 2nd Ed, so if it's explained there, a page number would get me on the right track, I hope.
