Can I complete the paper version of the course and then do the e-course version, or must they be integrated during study? Thanks, Lee Woods Cocoa, FL

In one sense, these are just two names for the same course. That is, we offer our full set of course materials either in traditional paper format with books and charts, and we also offer the same materials on a CD, which we often refer to as the electronic version of the course. These two are separated on this page, though we consider the package of both together as our main course product.
So in this sense they are the same thing and either set of materials can be used to work the course.
Some people have just one or the other of these materials packages, others have both in what we call the combo version. We do offer the option to anyone who might like it, to upgrade from either paper or electronic to the combo package, by paying the difference in the two products.
But if one does purchase the electronic version, then in addition to ebooks of the full course there is also included as part of that package a second CD which is a full echart viewing program as well as 4 echarts of the region covered by the paper chart. When someone has this component of the course, then they can also work all of the problems done with the paper chart, also independently with the echart program and echarts. This is very good training for anyone who plans to eventually use echart navigation, which by the way is these days referred to as ECS, meaning an electronic chart system.
Thus if you plan to use ECS, then we recommend you also use our electronic training. Thus to the answer to your question:
--- This can be done at the same time as the paper solutions, or you could finish the course in all paper and then come back to solving the problems with the ECS we provide later on.
Also we offer another option to the combo package if you want to add on the ECS component, but do not need the electronic versions of the course itself. That is you can purchase what we call the electronic supplement which will give you the ECS component, program and echarts.
This is now beyond your question, but i might point out that someone who already has experience with traditional navigation using paper charts and feels they do not need our full course on navigation, could still add on the extra training in ECS by purchasing just the echart supplement and the set of chart problems that apply to the region of the echarts.
