Here's a link to the 2010 NOAA magnetic variation model and graphs. If you click on the graph its a pretty world view of the variation of the magnetic field.

thanks for that reference. It is indeed a nice picture. At the same site you can also download a PC program that will compute accurate variation for any location. see http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomag/models.shtml

The program takes some study to get the input right, but then it works easily. There is related discussion on this link.... it is hard to beat a good picture, though!
