Hi Dave, I am working on the first problem from the book I just bought from your link. I am in Chapter 6 - Piloting (question one). When I do the exercise in the paper chart I get the correct answer. When I use OpenCPN I get the wrong answer. So I was looking for your videos in Youtube and I found the issue. When I draw a line using the key "M" and I select East instead of getting 285 M I get 254 M which is totally weird. I disabled the WWM plug-in as instructed in the video but it does not help. My Setting are set to 15 W or -15 in the variation box.
Any idea how to solve this issue. My OpenCPN version is 5.0.0.
It could be also a problem with the chart?

I corrected the issue. This is what I did in case someone else run into the same issue:
Remove the current version of the 1210 TR Remove all NOAA chart from the same area Download and install the 1210TR from your website. Change the Variance in the Settings and hit apply. Close OpenCPN and restart it.
It work perfect now. No more headaches with the bearings. No wonder why using the Coast Guard Aux manual didn't work neither.
Thanks for the video, that gave me the clue!!!

Glad that all is working, but i would guess that loading and unloading the chart was just a coincidence.
Should just need to turn WWM off, and then set var = 15W and it should work. If it does not, then close the OpenCPN and reopen and it should be OK.If that does not work, then reboot the computer and try again.
That is my guess, without more info. Not sure how an RNC could affect this. In principle an ENC might, but we do not have those as training charts.
