I came up with 2 nm from the Nashwena Island monument at the second log reading (6368.5), which matches the answer given for part B. But, as the monument was then seen bearing 347°M and appears to be roughly 0.3 nm inland, I thought that meant the boat was only 1.7 nm from the coastline.
On the other hand, the question refers to doubling the "bow angle to the island", which was clearly intended to mean the bow angle to the monument, so either figure might be taken as correct, depending on the pedagogical intent of the question.
I don't know whether comments like this are helpful for planning the next edition of the 1210tr book. If not, please tell me. I'd prefer to be useful.
I definitely am finding the book useful, even if I never go to sea!
