1st point
When using the latest version of the TI-89 or TI-titanium operating systems, it will be necessary to clear the full memory before installing your starpilot program, either as a first install or as an update.
This is stated in some sets of instructions but not all.
Procedure:
[2nd] [Mem] [F1] [3] [Enter]
then proceed to install the program.
2nd point
For the new titanium models, if you are seeing the graphic screen of various icons, then scroll to Home and select it to get to the basic TI interface: a row of boxes at the top, blank screen, with a narrow line of input text form at the bottom.
3rd point
If you are doing an update, after you start the restore process it will tell you that the file "hw3patch" is still there. Just choose "Skip" and go on. (This last point is not in manual nor install instructions.)

Here is a summary of the full process:
program calculator notes
-- use silver cable usb to calc connector.
-- 2nd/mem/reset/all/enter/enter... should see TI icon menu.
-- highlight Home/enter... see tools across top and blank cmd line at the bottom.
-- open TI connect and plug in calculator.
-- Do screen capture... it will look for and find usb silver cable.
-- Hit select to view the screen capture... should be the same as on the calc screen.
-- Close screen capture... this was just to test the connection.
-- Select Restore and change file type to TI 89 Family Backup files.
-- You should see "bld28056.89g" if not search your computer for it's location... (note: if the file extension is .89G it must be renamed to .89g) or download again and note carefully where the files are stored and when they get unzipped where they are going.
-- Select the file and open it. It will warn you that the file may not be compatible... but it is. Just continue.
-- once Send to Device window is populated click Send to device button. Below cmd line, calc will show transfer in progress.
-- On the calc: 2nd/var-link... scroll down to "spsetup" and press enter... cmd line should read spsetup( nothing before or after that.
-- type a closed parenthesis (right above 8 key)... now cmd line should read spsetup() then press enter.
-- it will un archive and bottom line will read --MORE-- (highlighted). Then press enter.
-- it will show your CODE and ask for a KEY
-- Go to www.starpilotLLC.com and click Product registration. Read and agree to the terms.
-- Enter Registration info and submit.
-- Enter Serial number and Code from Calculator.
--Your Key will be generated and displayed.
--Enter it in your Calculator.
