When changing batteries, it is important to change one set at a time. All the volatile memory on your calculator is lost when all the batteries are removed at the same time.
To restore the StarPilot program you need to extract it from the Flash ROM. Do this:
1. [mode] [f3] then arrow down to apps desktop and turn off the desktop
2. [2nd] [var-link] then arrow down to spsetup and hit enter
3. type in ")" to finish off the spsetup() command listed on the bottom of the screen. Then hit Enter to execute.
Follow the prompts...details in the manual. If that does not solve your problem you will need to reinstall the program...make sure you carefully follow the install instructions.

Some people have experienced some difficulty with the TI-Connect "Restore" function during the reinstall. If you have the same issue, then do this:
Go to where the unpacked files are stored (usually c:\myTIConnect\Backup). Select the file that looks similar to 'bld23082.89g'. Right click on that file and "Send To" your Ti device (be sure your calculator is plugged into your computer). Once loaded into your calculator, follow the remaining instructions for initializing, etc.

Also please be sure you have new AAA batteries installed as well as new Lithium if you are not sure when it was changed last. The former will last safely for a year; the latter safely for 5 years... both maybe a bit longer.
