The software purchase is valid for the life of the calculator it was originally installed on.
If both batteries are dead, chances are the program has been lost from ROM, calling for a new install.
The 4 AAAs last about one year; the backup lithium battery lasts about 5 years—these replace dates are conservative estimates of their lifetimes. We recommend that you write the date you install them on the batteries themselves with a Sharpie pen.
You can install new batteries both Lithium and AAA and then reinstall the program, downloaded from https://www.starpilotllc.com/downloads.htm Instructions are also at that page, explaining the process and cables needed.
The required KEY that identifies and unlocks the program in your calculator should be taped to the inside cover.
If that is missing, we might be able to locate it for you based on either the software serial number, purchaser name, or email used in the registration process.
