Nautical Twilight

That time of day, listed in the Nautical Almanac, when the horizon fades into or out of darkness. In the morning it marks the end of night when star sights begin; in the evening, it marks the beginning of night when star sights end. The zenith distance of the sun is 102° at nautical twilight. See discussion under Civil Twilight, which explains this special navigator's use of the term. See also Local Mean Time.
