secondary low

A low pressure which forms near or in association with another primary Low. These often occur at the tail end of the cold front of the primary Low. Sometimes these develop into systems that are more intense than the original one.

Other times, this secondary system is more just a weak frontal system or trough in the cold air flow approaching the main system. See G439.
