Siberian High A principle center of action over winter time Russia which gives rise to or at least firms up the northeast monsoon. Average values can be seen in the World Atlas under Pressures. Its summertime counterpart is the Asian Low. The Siberian High can sometimes be a monster High, holding the world record for high pressures (1083.8 mb, Dec. 31, 1968, Agata, Russia) and sometimes circled by isobars that look as tight as those typically associated with Lows. See pressure records under atmospheric pressure. Analogous center of action Highs over water are called the Pacific High and Atlantic High. |
