sling psychrometer An instrument consisting of a wet-bulb thermometer and a dry-bulb thermometer mounted on a frame, which is connected to a handle with a swivel so that the instrument may be spun to fan the wet-bulb thermometer to cause evaporation. Accurate wet-bulb and dry-bulb readings are then taken to determine relative humidity and dew point. The wet and dry bulb temperatures are used to enter special tables that then give dew point or relative humidity. See RES-10. |
