Special Warnings Broadcast messages primarily intended to announce official U.S. Government proclamations affecting shipping. Special Warnings are broadcast by U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard radio stations and are published in all editions of the Daily Memorandum and in the weekly Notice to Mariners. Upon issuance, the texts of all effective Special Warnings are published annually in Notice to Mariners No. 1 by the Defense Mapping agency Hydrographic/Topographic Center.
