Calculated Height

Found from sight reduction tables or by direct computation, it is the height of the celestial body that would have been observed from the assumed position at the time of the sight.

At the end of a sight reduction, Hc is compared to Ho (observed height) to figure the altitude intercept (a-value) which in turn is used to plot the line of position. Also called calculated altitude.

The mathematical determination of Hc is found from solving the navigational triangle.
