rhumb line route

The direct straight line course between two points on a mercator chart. There will be a constant true heading to the destination at any place along the route, although the magnetic heading will vary as the variation does.

Whenever we draw a straight line between two points on a chart, that distance is referred to as the rhumbline distance, and that line is the rhumb line route.

See discussion comparing to great circle route at the end of that discussion.
