prime vertical

An imaginary plane crossing your location oriented East-West that marks the bearing due east and due west at all altitudes. It is like another meridian line running east west across the sky as opposed to north-south across the sky. When any object is "on your prime vertical" it means it is bearing either due east or due west. When cel nav bodies cross the prime vertical they are rising or setting at an angle equal to 90° minus your latitude.
