fit-slope method

The procedure of computing the slope of Hc vs WT using a time and DR position just before and just after a specific set of sights to a body and then constraining the least squares fit to the data to have that slope. This method often will highlight poor sights that might not have been apparent when the slope of the line was not fixed.

See Fit-Slope Method to Analyze Sextant Sights.

The value of this method has been acknowledged in that it now appears in the latest edition of Bowditch, quoting our textbook as the source.
