OpenCPN OpenCPN is an open source (free) navigation and weather software program for both Mac and PC. It is an internationally popular product with versions in over 40 languages. It shows both RNC charts (images of paper charts) and vector ENC charts of the S-57 type (free) and the S-63 copy protected variety, as well as a custom set of OSENC charts for this program only. The latter two require plugins. For weather work, it has a plugin to auto georeference graphic weather maps and related images, as well as display Grib formatted forecasts for grib1 files and for grib2 files in several projections. It has a weather routing plugin to compute the optimum sailing route across a wind forecast based on the vessels polar diagram of performance specs. Numerous other useful plugins are available that contribute to the product's popularity. See http://www.opencpn.org.
