arrival circle

When doing electronic chart navigation, marks or POIs that are going to be used as a waypoint on a route or pathway can be assigned an arrival circle centered on that mark that triggers activation of the next waypoint in the route when the arrival circle (ring) is crossed. This then automatically switches the present waypoint from the target of the navigation to the next one in the route. Arrival circle radii are typically set in meters rather than miles. See other implications under activate a route.
