Davies Tables

Nickname for the Concise Tables for Sight Reduction by Admr. Thomas D. Davies. These were originally published by Cornell Maritime Press, but may be out of print now. They have evolved into the tables now called "NAO Tables," which are included in each Nautical Almanac since 1989. These "concise" tables are short, only 20 pages or so covers all sight reductions, but the procedure for using them is not concise. You pay for short tables with a long sight reduction. The special Starpath workforms for the Davies Tables (NAO Tables) help guide you through the process. These tables were originally intended as a back-up to other, more convenient tables or to a calculator, but with the Starpath forms they are indeed a viable solution to all sight reductions by paper. See Sight Reduction and Sight Reduction Tables.
