Equinoxes

The two days of the year when the sun crosses the equator as its declination changes from south to north (March 21) and then back to south again (September 23). On the equinoxes, the sun rises due east at 6 am and sets due west at 6 pm solar time everywhere on earth. Hence the name, equinox, which means "equal nights," or day and night of equal length.
