Index Error

In this course, and throughout many publications on celestial navigation, this term is used interchangeably with "index correction." One could argue that one is the error caused by such and such and the other is the correction to this error, but in practice both terms are used for each aspect. The virtue of not having two distinct terms is to minimize possible errors. If we had two terms with actual numerical vlaues, one whould have to be the negative of the other. See the working definition and related notes under Index correction. There is also a summary and expansion of the issue in the Cel Nav General Discussion group.
