Privacy Policy.

Starpath (“Starpath,“we,” or “us” ) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy governs your use of the "Marine Barograph" app on mobile devices.

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

User Provided Information
This app does not require, nor request, nor obtain any personal information about the user at all. There is no registration nor subscription required to use the app. If you contact us by email for support, we will answer to that email address, and follow up as needed, but your email address is not stored, nor passed on to any third party, and no unsolicited emails will be sent.

Automatically Collected Information
This app does not collect any information about your device or network connections. No cookies are used. The app does automatically collect and store, within the app only, specific navigation information needed to interpret the atmospheric pressure, as explained below. This navigation information is not available to anyone except the app user.

Does the application collect precise real time location information of the device?
As noted above, the app does record, within the app only, the latitude and longitude of the device at the time the atmospheric pressure is recorded in the app. Likewise the speed and heading of the device are also recorded. This information is required to make an intelligent interpretation of the changes in atmospheric pressure that are being measured and stored in the device. This information can be exported or shared by the user if desired, but otherwise neither Starpath nor any third party has access to it.

Background Location Data Collection
If you give authorization for Background Location Data Collection, the app will continue to collect your location data in the background (when the app is running but not visible). The app records location data along with the pressure, time, course, and speed so the user can interpret the trends in atmospheric pressure changes needed to make future weather routing decisions. Such a continuous record is also needed for one of the key functions of the application, namely comparing observed pressure at a specific time and place with the forecasted values, so the user can evaluate the reliability of the forecast. An interrupted trace of the pressure that would occur without background operation would likely miss the crucial forecast times. Likewise, the course and speed of the vessel, derived from precise positions, is needed to determine if a pressure change is caused by a moving or developing weather pattern or by the motion of the observer, or both. Background accumulation of pressure data is also required to present proper warnings to the user of serious weather changes.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?
No data collected by the app is transmitted to nor available to Starpath nor any third party.

Children
This app is not intended for nor advertised for children under the age of 13.

Changes in this Privacy Policy
There is no conceived reason to change this policy, but if it should be changed, the history of all such changes will be recorded and listed below.
