This notice appeared on the USCG Nav Info Center GPS page for about 2 weeks at the end of Nov and beginning of Dec, 1997. Note the interesting reason for the failure of GPS... What is that? THE COAST GUARD NAVIGATION CENTER RECENTLY RECEIVED REPORTS THAT CERTAIN GPS RECEIVERS COULD BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO POSITIONING ERRORS OR LOCK UP AS A RESULT OF THE PRE-COMMISSIONING VALIDATION EXERCISES CONDUCTED BY THE AIR FORCE ON PRN 13 (SVN43). USERS ARE REQUESTED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER OF THEIR EQUIPMENT IF PROBLEMS ARE ENCOUNTERED.
