Fast GPS PLotting

For fast chart plotting of a digital position, construct a plotting card using the chart scales or other means to mark the edges in tenths. Then align the card as shown on the proper latitude, then mark position at the proper longitude. This method requires drawing in extra parallels and meridians in most cases, but the extra work pays off in this fast, accurate way to plot. We have used this for years. It is especially valuable in racing when fast navigation must be done — this is all a hangover from the days before electronic charting, nevertheless it is good practice to have a backup method in mind.
