| Progressive Web App (PWA) A PWA is an application that provides some functionality that is written as a webpage and can be accessed by a mobile device and then stored on your home screen to run offline, with no internet or network connections, such as at sea far from land... with no Starlink! In comparison, you can open any webpage and then save it to your home screen and it will open and function, but only when you have a network or internet connection. A PWA does not require such a connection. A PWA is an otherwise normal webpage written in html, but it internally links to two small special functions, manifest.json and service-worker.js. The first tells the mobile device how to install the app and its icons and the second configures the app to run offline. The universal Starpath DR Calculator is a versatile, valuable tool free for all navigators that is designed as a WAP. |
