Moments Moments are the product of - force x distance. Since we have just stated that weight is a force and is the product of mass and acceleration due to the earths gravity, through common usage, the force component is usually dropped and weight is expressed in the same units as the mass. ie tonnes, then we could express moments as: Moments are the product of - weight x distance.
