| Down flooding If a vessel is heeled, eventually, as the angle of heel increases, water will start to enter the vessel through opening which do not usually have watertight covers. ie, boat deck ventilation intakes, funnel intakes and engine room gratings. Small commercial fishing vessels and small commercial vessels are required to be able to heel at least 40o before this ingress of water, which is called “Down flooding” will occur. Ref. Pg 52 Ch 11 |
