Meridian

Any line at constant longitude. Special ones are
• the Greenwich meridian (the reference line for longitudes),
• the International Date Line (where west turns to east),
• your local meridian, which marks the high point in the arc of all celestial bodies as they pass.
• "the meridian" refers to your local meridian

Looking north along the meridian you are viewing toward 000T; looking south along the meridian you are viewing toward 180T.

When a star, or any cel nav body, is "on your meridian" or "on the meridian" it means its GHA is the same as your longitude. Its local hour angle would be zero or 180.

The corresponding name for a constant latitude line is a "parallel" of latitude.
