raster A two-dimensional, rectangular, pixel grid used to present digital data or radar echoes on a CRT or LCD screen. Also used to refer to the format of an image, such as raster or vector. A picture of a circle is a raster image; the formula for a circle or a set of digital coordinates that make up a circle would be called a vector image. E-chart navigation uses both raster charts and vector charts. All radar images are raster images.
