electronic bearing line

An electronic means of measuring the radar bearing of a target with a rotating radial line on the radar screen. You can adjust the position of the line until it overlaps the target and read the bearing from numbers on the radar screen. This is a primary working tool of radar navigation and collision avoidance. It is usually controlled by buttons or by a cursor. See also variable range marker and electronic range and bearing line.
