| Training Mode This is an enhanced installation feature of qtVlm that sets several configuration options plus installs several sets of charts, harmonic tidal data, plus several GRIB files, and other features. It is intended to expedite learning qtVlm. The Training Mode is discussed in this Training Mode Blog post, which includes a video overview of its features. See also: Instructions on loading the Training Mode. Real navigation vs training mode: It is likely that most users will be both training on qtVlm and actually using it for real navigation on the water, or for planning for real navigation. For these dual uses, it is important to keep the training mode view for training and then use the deactivate mode for your real navigation. Thus you have effectively two copies of the program, each with separate charts and marks and other resources. This is important because the training mode periodically offers updates, and when you download and install the latest training mode it will overwrite what is in the present training mode. So any marks or routes or pathways you created will be lost. The ones you want to keep should be made within the base version, reached by the deactivate option. Then you can reactivate to get back to training mode. |
