Marine Weather Services Chart

A series of charts (called MSC) produced by the National Weather Service that list the sources of marine weather available within the charted region (US waters), plus other weather related information. Unfortunately, NOAA has discontinued all of these except for Alaska. We are hoping they will change their mind on this. NOAA still lists them online so we see which regions they covered.

The data they include are must-have information for navigation underway, but it must have gone outdated so they pulled the product. We have since made an article tells you how to make your own MSC. This is a valuable document to read.

For detailed information on the content and use, see the extended discussion in our text Modern Marine Weather.

At last check, the last versions of each one were online at Blue Seas.... but these should be considered simply as templates for you to correct. That is, check each link or reference to be sure it still works.

Much if not most of the information is still valid on these, and you can use these last editions as a place to mark the updates.

Canadian counterparts are also very valuable. See Starpath Inside Passage Weather.
